Goodreads asked Lauren Stewart:

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Lauren Stewart For Unseen: While reading an urban fantasy, I realized how bizarre it was that no humans every noticed the copious amount of bodies drained of blood or ever got suspicious about all these unearthly beautiful people who only came out at night and never seemed to age.

Some writers deal with day managers, but I wanted to focus on all the people it would take to actually sustain a paranormal world. Things got more and more complex as other needs of the supernaturals were introduced and a caste system appeared. The Heights is a pretty efficient and dangerous place to be.

For Darker Water: A friend dared me to write a book with a happy ending. She didn't think I could do it, not in a standalone. A few years ago, I had an idea about a woman who believes she has the metaphorical power to turn princes (really great guys) into frogs (lying, cheating a**holes). I started writing an intro with a very fairytale-ish feel to it and the story just appeared. So did the other six stories in the series. All of which will have happy endings. Just to prove my friend wrong. :)
