Toshita
Toshita asked Michael Grant:

Do you have certain things like music or coffee or certain chair when you are writing your fabulous books or can you write in any setting and produce amazing stories?

Michael Grant Well, I have written under all kinds of circumstances, including beside my first kid's incubator at the hospital. But do I prefer some things? Absolutely.

1) Sunshine. I'm like one of those old solar-powered calculators. If it's cloudy, I'm slow and weak and fade out.

2) Caffeine. In the form of strong, black coffee, nectar of the gods.

3) Cigars. Now, my wife has this crazy idea that cigars stink (ahem) so I can only smoke out of doors, and by the way, I do not inhale.

4) Being outside. Definitely connected to #4, but even with that aside, I like being out on a porch or a deck. When it's rainy or too cold I often work in my car, because that's kind of like 'outside.'

5) When the book is working, and especially if I'm writing an action scene, I sometimes play music, usually punk or reggae.
