Année
Année asked Jo Baker:

I have not yet read A Country Road, A Tree, but I loved Longbourn. What sort of historical research do you conduct for your books?

Jo Baker it goes in phases - a wide historical reading, to set the work in context for the period, and then detail to do with the specific story and characters. And then afterwards, once you've got a draft the story written, you then have to go and research all the stuff that it turns out you'll need to know, but didn't realise you needed to know until you'd written the story. Like how to make a phonecall in the 1940s, or what meals were served and at what time of day in the 1800s...
