The first book of yours was I read Finch, which I got after seeing a review of it. I've greatly enjoyed the first two Southern Reach books, and am looking forward to the third - which of your other (earlier) books would be most suitable to read as I wait for Acceptance?

Good question. City of Saints and Shriek, in the same series as Finch, are very, very different from Finch, so it depends how many different kinds of fiction you read. Veniss Underground might work, although it's a bit more stylized. (Just keep in mind the narrator of part 1 is a jerk--but that's a short section.) And thanks for reading!

Annihilation and Authority both take distinctly different genres as starting points. It certainly seems to be a more 'controlled' approach than, say, City of Saints and Madmen, which gleefully and deliberately plays around with various genres, styles and voices. Do you think that you're at a point in your career when such 'fine-tuning' is the next logical step?

As a reader, one of the best things about discovering a new author is the opportunity to discover additional writers through following the author's influences, peers, and the new writers championed by the author. What authors or specific works would you like to introduce to someone who's mostly familiar with "literary" classics? (I don't like the literary/genre dichotomy, but what easier way to describe it?)

Jeff, first off let me say I really enjoyed the first two books of The Southern Reach Trilogy. I saw that the series has been optioned to be a movie. If you had access to any artistic team in the history of cinema, who would you want to do the adapting of your story to the big screen?
