Hi Kristen, I know you hear it all the time but I have to say that I love your books. I was going through your coming soon schedule and let me say how excited I was when I found out that Marcus&Daisy's story will be told. I saw that you have a BDSM alpha-sub book coming up as well and I got a bit confused. Is the hero gonna be an alpha-male who sexually submits to the heroine?

Kristen Ashley Hi Nina,

Delighted to hear the excitement about Daisy and Marcus! I'm excited too. A little nervous, I want their story to be everything it can be and I know it starts in a SERIOUSLY rocky place. But I'm eager to be there with (and for) Daisy as she goes through what she goes through and finds Marcus and her HEA at the end of that!

As for THE DEEP END, my new erotic romance series, yes to your question :-). The hero is an alpha but he's sexually submissive.

I've been tinkering with this idea for some time. I actually wrote a really racy, fun scene in WILDEST DREAMS (not a scene with Frey and Finnie, a scene with Valentine) that I loved. It was definitely hot! But I thought it might be too much for my readers so I chickened out and pulled it.

But I never forgot it. I loved it and that concept of a strong man and a strong woman in this kind of relationship, watching the trust grow sexually at first, and then having something bigger and very beautiful grow from that.

To that end, I actually started to write a companion novella for Valentine that I was going to release with BROKEN DOVE. However, it was a long novella and it was delaying me finishing BROKEN DOVE so I set it aside once again and focused on the main novel.

Finally, I read Joey W Hill's NATURAL LAW and found that this kind of story could be done and done amazingly. I devoured that book and not only because it was deliciously erotic but also because Joey is a supremely talented writer and I loved the characters (I've read three in that series since discovering NATURAL LAW, Nature of Desire, and they're all wonderful).

I got inspired and decided to stop toying with this concept and setting it on the back burner and let it fly. I barely left my computer for weeks, I was so immersed in building that new world. And I fell in love with it and all I can do with it, the freedom of trying something new, meeting characters and exploring new facets of their psyches.

It's very much a KA book and I'm excited for it to be unleashed. Not to mention, it has three books in the series with this same concept and I'm excited to write the next two!
