as a writer it is important to read as well when one has time. What do you enjoy reading the most of?

David Estes Thanks for the question Julia! And I completely agree, reading is almost as important as writing. I read every day, for two reasons:

1) Enjoyment! Reading for fun is super-important because it's the whole reason I started writing in the first place: to bring the joy of words to other people.

2) To stay current! I mostly read young adult books because that's what I write. It's important to stay current on the industry, what type of books are having success, who the most popular authors are, etc. It really helps me to connect with my readers.

So now to your question. I enjoy reading anything YA, especially sci/fi dystopian and fantasy novels. Anything with a really good hook, interesting characters, and a few twists will keep me reading late into the night. I really appreciate a touch of humor in the books I read too, especially the darker ones!
