Goodreads asked Jacqueline Vick:

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Jacqueline Vick That's a good question, since my most recent book, "An Unhealthy Attachment", involves an exorcist. Actually, I have always been surrounded by great priests. We had priests to dinner when I was a teen, my dad's good friend is a Catholic priest, and I've always been on good terms with most of the priests I've known. Of course, they are human, so there are exceptions. The more I thought about it, the more I wanted to write a priest character who represented what priests are to me. Human. Flawed. Heroes. And since with fiction you want to up the conflict, I put my priest on the front lines of the battle between good and evil. An exorcist. And then I set him up to fail, because what's the good of a flawed hero unless he starts at rock bottom? In this case, it results in his being taken off his regular assignment and placed at an all-girl high school, where he is the Religious Education instructor. Anyone who's ever been or known a teenage girl knows they have a nifty gift for making life hell on earth. And the mystery takes off from there.
