What’s the best thing about being a writer?

Nick van der Leek I can't speak for all writers, but what I do is very fulfilling. When one is writing about true crime, especially real injustice in the real world, it's gratifying when the parents of a victim want to talk to you to find answers to deep personal questions. There is justice in the court of public opinion, and sometimes justice delayed is nevertheless a kind of justice. Many top achievers work their entire life only to write books about their legacies at the very end. The best thing about being a writer is to be conscious about the legacies of others, and yourself, and that exposure I think makes us all better people.
