What would you say is the biggest challenge of fitting your fantastical tales into the framework of a short story? Do you have any advice for writing short stories?

Jeff VanderMeer That's a big question! I think learning what to focus on and what to leave out is the most important thing, and to achieve acts of compression where your sentences are doing not one or two things but three or four things. Compression of time, usually, too. Otherwise, all of my advice is in my writing book Wonderbook.
