Melany asked Mary Kubica:

My question relates to perspective. In Good Girl, you wrote from the two different perspectives, but have you ever worked on a story and thought if it would be better from a different point of view? I'm wondering if you question from whom you present the story (first person omniscient vs limited and/or third person) and then change your mind to write a different way for the final piece.

Mary Kubica Deciding whose perspective(s) to tell my novels from is always one of the first decisions I make. I love using the first person, present tense for my books - as I feel the first person allows me to get inside my characters' heads and become one with them, while the present tense maintains a sense of urgency with the story. And I love having multiple narrators tell the story because it gives readers a more comprehensive view of what is happening in the narrative. That said, it can sometimes be a tough decision to chose who is best to tell the story, though so far, once I've picked my narrators, I have yet to change my mind.
