Would you ever write story based in a different country, one which you have never visited but know from books? would you take that risk? say you want to write a book based in India but you have never been to India so will you write it? Will your readers like it?

I always enjoy discovering more about locations and cultures that are different than mine. I would certainly be open to this, but to give the setting the justice it deserves, feel it would be necessary to travel to the locale to absorb the feel of the area and the culture of its people. I've set my books in Chicago so far because to me, this is home. It's an area I know well and feel I can bring that knowledge and personal experience to the page.

Hi Mary, I love your books, especially Pretty Baby. I was wondering what made you center the story around Heidi and the death of her father and her not accepting his death? Having lost my father, whom I was close too, I could really relate to her situation. Looking forward to reading Don't You Cry !
