Jordyn asked Stuart Gibbs:

Dear Stuart Gibbs, I am currently reading "Big Game" and I LOVE IT!!! I love to write, but I am not great at it, but I am trying to get better! I was wondering how do you develop your characters to make them so relatable, as if I have met them in real life? And how do you write your mysteries, they always have the twist ending that I never think about, (Those are my favorite kind of mysteries!) Thank You!!

Stuart Gibbs Jordyn -

I develop my characters over long periods of time, collecting interesting quirks of personality from people I have met over the years, and occasionally adding quirks that I have made up myself that I think would be interesting.

As for those twists, I create my mysteries backwards, coming up with the mystery first and then trying to determine how someone would pull it off. Then I try to figure out how to keep that a secret throughout the entire book.
