Adnil asked this question about The Beast (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #14):
I want to know more about Lalya and Xcor's story, I'd also like for him to join the Black Dagger Brotherhood and have Jane repair his cleft palate. I have a feeling theat Qhuinn and Lalya's daughter will be the replacement for the Scribe Virgin. I also want to know did I fall asleep and miss Beth having little Wrath?? As I recall Beth would sit with a pregnant Layla hoping to go into her "needing".

Beth was already pregnant when she went into her needing (which isn't feasible per the world rules of the BDB) and no one, including Wrath (who smells emotions and everything else), detected Beth's pregnancy, when vampire males are supposed to be able to smell both fertility and pregnancy in female. Beth's pregnancy was of a normal human gestation time She gave birth before Layla, who was pregnant long before Beth was. Layla was pregnant FOREVER, then suddenly had twins that no one detected (in the book The Shadows I believe; I stopped reading the series after forcing myself to finish The King, which actually gave me headaches whenever I'd read a few chapters) not Havers, Ghost Jane, nor Payne with her special powers. But, that's Ward for ya. One of many reasons I stopped reading rather than putting up with her famous urging of, "keep reading..." whenever she didn't feel like answering a question.

Per Ms. Ward, Lassiter will replace the SV. The book after The Beast is called The Chosen, coming next year, and will be all about Xcor and Layla. And Ghost Jane, and Lassiter, and Quay, and Assail, and the entire Brotherhood, and the whole BoB, and the Lessors, and everyone else, as usual.(less)
