Joana, Florian and the two children were saved and emigrated to the US. They did not look back and had a biological child together. Emila froze to death like most of the people in the life boats and the boat drifted ashore on the island of Bornholm, where she was buried by a Danish couple. They did not know who she was, until 20 years later, when the woman read about a girl who wanted to compete in the olympics, but had no nationality since she was born on a ship which sunk in the Baltic. She wrote to the "dad" Florian who then wrote back and told her to hide his rucksack with the stolen treasure and who sorted out question marks about Emilia.
