Louise Carlson Stowell
Louise Carlson Stowell asked Jacob M. Appel:

When did you start writing, what drove you and why? Was it a school project in 6th grade? What makes you tick?

Jacob M. Appel I didn't start writing seriously until I started law school. Anyone who has ever been a law student tries very quickly to figure out something else he can do with his life....

I suppose you mean "What makes me tick?" other than the wind-up device sewn into my back. Probably a deeply-ingrained fear of inadequacy....and a burning desire to show up the girls who turned me down for dates in college. That's also why Milton wrote Paradise Lost, by the way--I'm just more open about my motives.
