I would say Historical Fiction with some nonfictional moments/dates and backstory behind the book I believe?

I heard the author speak two weeks ago and the story is based on the true story of a man who came to Scholastic with his story. So much (most) of it is true, but like The Boy Who Dared there are too many parts that aren't documented or whatever to claim it has pure non-fiction, but it is this one man's true story.
