What is your favorite book series, and do you think it inspired you at all to write KEEPER? Which characteristics of your characters in keeper do you think were modeled off you? P.s I LOVE KEEPER AND I READ 1-4 in just spring break . And do yo have any writing tips?

Shannon Messenger I'm really bad at having one all time favorite, so I'll just say one of my favorites, which is the Sisters' Grimm series by Michael Buckley--and his use of humor, the way he handled crushes and whatnot, and his super-strong girl characters definitely inspired me to want to write Keeper. Very few things in KEEPER are modeled off of me, though Sophie and I do share the same nervous habit and sleep with a bright blue stuffed elephant. As for writing tips, the best I can give is to not try too hard to get it perfect the first time. Writing is re-writing. Give yourself permission to be messy at first, knowing you'll go back later and make it better.
