Donna asked Tera Lynn Childs:

To aspiring writers like myself, what advice would you give about writing a book and getting it published?

Tera Lynn Childs There are two primary pieces of advice that virtually every writer will give: Read as much as you can and write as much as you can. These teach you how others use words to convey emotion and how you do, which is essentially finding your "author voice".

Additionally, become a keen observer of life, notice the little details that you can add into your fictional worlds to make them feel the most real. Educated yourself about the craft and the business of writing, find a local writers' group if possible or do as much online research as possible.

And, finally, don't give up. Finish that book, start sending it out, and then move on to the next one. It is almost never an author's first book that is the one ready for publication.
