Ducky
Ducky asked Eric Michael Craig:

What made you decide to write an apocalyptic Science Fiction novel?

Eric Michael Craig I think most people would consider the Atlas series as apocalyptic, but honestly I don't think it fits cleanly into that genre. There are certainly aspects of it that are very "doomsday oriented," but ultimately it is a story about how hope keeps humanity moving forward, as we dance to avoid the apocalypse. To me the story is more about the political traps that our complacency allows us to overlook as we stumble toward the future.
