"Out of the Easy" has parallels to my mother's personal history. I wanted to explore feminism in historical context through a girl in postwar America, a girl who dreamed of being the author of her own destiny. And thank you for the congratulations, "Ashes in the Snow" should release early next year!

Hi Ruta, I really enjoyed your book "Between Shades of Gray" and was wondering what inspired you to write this book? Also, how do you come up with your stories? I have considered writing a story of my own, even though I am still in middle school, but I can never find the right thing to write about.
