Allison Brigandi
Allison Brigandi asked Carla Buckley:

I first read 'The Things That Keep Us Here' then devoured the rest of your books. You're absolutely one of my favorite authors-thank you. How long does it take to write an entire novel and how long do we have to wait for your next?

Carla Buckley Allison! Just saw this--did I answer your question? This is a lovely note; thank you so much, and please accept my apologies for not replying sooner. As for how long it takes me to write a novel, the answer is: it varies. For example, The Good Goodbye practically wrote itself within six months, but I've been working on my current novel (#5) for well over two years--far longer than it took me to write any of my previous novels. I'm hopeful that I'm in the final stretches and that it will be released this coming year. I can't WAIT to share it with you!
