Will we be seeing Kirk Manning in any other books in the series? Is he ever going to play a more major part? He's one of my favorite minor characters :D

Yes, definitely. :) He's one of my favorites, too. I think we'll see a little about him in Book 2, and he'll play a major part in both books 3 & 4.
