Hi Ruta! Im from Spain and I have read Between Shades of Gray(Entre tonos de gris here) and Out of Easy. I also have relatives near Russia and they told me how they lived during the URSS occupation,as you tell in Shades of Gray,so your book helped me to understand how terrible those years were. Well, my question is:Which period are you planning to write about in the future?Germany during Nazism,The Hundred Years' War?

Hello Hellie!
Thank you for reading "Between Shades of Gray" and "Out of the Easy!" To answer your question, the time period I am going to write about for my next book is—Spain during the Franco regime!
I'm hard at work on the book and have already done a lot of research. I will come to Spain in October to promote the Spanish edition of "Salt to the Sea" and research my new book.
Thanks! :)

Hi Ruta! I'm an eighth grader who just finished your book "Between Shades of Gray" and adored it. I was wondering if there were ways you can read more about people like Lina and her family who were sent to work from Lithuania to Russia--perhaps even get in touch with them? :)

Hi Ruta! Since your novels are based on real events I know you have researched a lot in order to write them. Has anything you ever read or learned while researching -like a testimony from a survivor- changed you personally or changed the way you did something in your life? Also, I read "Between Shades of Gray" and I loved it, I even cried while reading it. One of my favorite books ever!

Hi! I'm a huge fan of your work; it's kind of what has sparked my love of history these past few years. I'm taking extra history classes now and reading as much history as I can, and I'm even considering having history as my minor in college. I wanted to thank you so much for helping me find this love, and I also wanted to ask: what sparked your love of history? Did someone help spark your love the way you did for me?
