I love Spain and the Spanish readers. I will be in Spain in October and I can't wait!
I'm generally inspired to start writing when I discover a historical secret or a piece of hidden history. I have so many favorite books and films, it's so hard to choose just one, so I'll just give an example. :) I love the book "All the Light We Cannot See" by Anthony Doerr and I love the movie "Atonement." They are both historical and contain themes of love, loss, and survival.

Hi Ruta, I love your books. In the very popular genre of Holocaust books, yours have stood out to me. I would like to know how you are able to 'get in your characrter's heads' so well? They all seem so unique and well written. And if you wouldn't mind, could you just say hi to the kids in my book club? I'm a YA librarian and would love to show them that they could connect with a favorite author if they try! Thanks!
