Hi! Gotta say that I'm a huge fan and you've actually made me really interested in history. Before your novels, I actually some sort of vendetta against. But of course that's changed now. Anyway, my question: what made you want to write historical fiction specifically? Of all the genres, what was the allure? Thanks in advance and of course keep up the AMAZING work!

Hello Maha!
It's such an incredible honor to hear that my books have sparked an interest in history for you. Thank you! Thank you! In terms of the allure for me as a writer, writing historical fiction is like being a detective. I love discovering secrets, hidden facts, and hidden heroes. In general, I love that investigative process! Sometimes history can be perceived as boring. But through characters and story, historical statistics become human and suddenly we care for people we've never met, we can find their country on a map, and then - the history matters. Through historical fiction we can give voice those who will never have a chance to tell their story. That inspires me!

Hey, Ruta! I'm from Lebanon and have read Between Shades of Gray. It's amazing, I love historical fiction especially those of WWII. So my question is: were you always interested in history and how did it influence your writing career exactly? If you wanted to write other historical novels, which different period would you choose? Why?

Hi Ruta! I read your book "Between Shades of Gray" and absolutely fell in love with it. I am a middle school student of South Korea, also a wannabe author - trying to get as much practice as possible when I still have time as a young student. Could you give me some help about turning a general idea into a book(or a rough draft, if not)? I would be absolutely thankful if you can!
