Many of Coben's books can be read in random order as they are stand-alone. The exceptions are the Myron Bolitar series ( a sports agent who finds himself in perilous situations) and the Mickey Bolitar series (teen reading). I would start with Myron, in order. Many of the recurring characters in these books do 'cameos' in some of the later stand alone novels.

I had never read a Coben book and I really liked this one. It is a stand alone and doesn't depend on the others for clarity. I think maybe the other people were such Coben fans, they were pushing their favorite series. However, the characters in that series do not appear in this book.

Yes, like Hanisha said. But if you start on the Myron Bolitar series (which I would recommend as a fan), try to read them in order of being published. It's nicer as the characters evolve.

Love all the Harlan Coben books, I agree with Bob, read the Bolitar books in order. They are great, the characters have so much character. I don't think I have read a Coben book that I haven't liked. Just finished The Stranger and thought it was good. My favorite I think is Tell No One. It was the first one I read of his.

I love Harlan Coben, but dislike the Myron Bolitar series. The other books are all stand alone books which can be read in any order.

I have never read the Myron Bolitar books though they are on my list to read someday. I think you can read any of the stand alone books first but I loved Tell No One.

I agree with Hanasha. If you like mysteries/thrillers you will love any of Harlan Coben's books. I have to admit Myron is my favorite.Love all the recurring characters.
