How do you deal with writer’s block?

Anne Bellegia Touched by Fatality is my first novel. It didn't begin with any expectations with regard to a completion date or even an intent to publish. Professional writers operate under more pressure to produce. Still, for me, there were a lot of "Oh, no!" moments as I realized that the timeline didn't work, the tense wasn't right, or a character had done something improbable. My career and personal life has always involved creative problem-solving, so dry spells in the writing of the novel were offset with satisfaction in other areas. The characters solved problems in the story on their own, mostly while I was involved in some other activity or sleeping.
