Hi Mr. Grant! I would like to know how the map was created. Where did you start? Did you have the idea of creating a map already at the beginning?

Michael Grant I started by using Google Earth to scan the CA coastline. I knew I wanted it to be in CA because frankly I didn't want to figure out what to do about weather. Plus, I knew I wanted a beach. I can't remember now whether I first found Pismo Beach and then found Diablo Canyon nuclear plant or the other way around, but it was perfect. The Pismo Beach area is a bit isolated, has a beautiful beach, and I could stretch to include some forest and some desert. After that I started drawing and naming. You know there are three famous Chicago chefs in there? Trotter, Tramonto and Achatz.
