Hi Kate! I recently finished reading "Mistress of Rome" and I must say it's an amazing book. What inspired you to write about Rome? And what are you currently writing?

Kate Quinn Glad you enjoyed "Mistress of Rome!" I've always been a history nut, especially ancient history - my mother had a classics degree, so as a kid I was getting stories about Julius Caesar and Alexander the Great instead of Cinderella and the Sleeping Beauty, and watching "I, Claudius" instead of the Disney channel. Writing about ancient Rome seemed natural, though there are lots of other historical eras I adore. I've also written two books set in the Italian Renaissance, and now I'm working on something very different indeed - but it's still under wraps until it goes off to my agent!
