Goodreads asked James D. Mortain:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

James D. Mortain Resolve one problem at a time, don't try to fix everything at once.

I'm lucky, I live near the ocean, and when my brain is fried with a myriad of thought processes banging into one another and getting nowhere, I take myself away to the beach, or sit at a viewpoint watching the waves. It doesn't stop the thoughts racing, but taking myself away from the PC or laptop seems to aid clarity.

I also find that many of my creative blockages are resolved when I least expect them; driving, day job, walking the dog, sitting on the throne!
I make sure that I have a means recording those golden nuggets, because they are often quickly forgotten.
