Jeff, I am heartbroken and angry and am finding myself almost more upset about the life and death of Rob Peace than any other person i have read about. Your ability to flesh out this man's character is amazing. What an eye-opening read it has been for me. is it wrong to write this without a ???. I simply have this amazing need to tell you what an impact your book is having on my life. So very much to digest.

Hi and thank you so much for reading and responding to Rob's story, as well as taking the time to reach out with such kind words. It means an awful lot, even after all these years, for real. So sorry for the years-long delay in responding. I really don't spend time on social websites but am trying to be better about that, as my next book called Show Them You're Good comes out in August, about young men in different neighborhoods finishing high school and aspiring for college. In the meantime, I wish you all the best and really am grateful to hear from you, and to know that maybe Rob still continues to impact people for the better, as he did for me and so many others I know. Sincerely, Jeff

Jeff Hobbs:
Jeff, thanks for writing such a exquisite portrait of your friend Rob Peace. I was struck by how fully you portrayed his life and captured the knowable and unknowable qualities of the human experience. I was wondering if you believe the lack of social capital existing in Rob's background contributed to the malaise of his mid-20s and if Yale could have done a better job for those graduating without such a network?
