Is Foucault's Pendulum a difficult read? Does it have any story line or plot or characters? I read 'Holy Blood Holy Grail' sometime back and was a long read for me. Will Foucault's Pendulum be similar to it?

This book is, if anything, more difficult than that. It is a critique and satire of that and similar books, and expects a broad knowledge of history, philosophy, arts, sciences, etc.

It is a difficult read. I had to wait several years before I finally had the courage and knowledge to read it. It is an awesome tour de force. I love it. It is a novel so yes i does have all the elements you mention.
