I wrote WINTERSONG for my 16-year-old self, so if you are an uncertain, passionate, slightly awkward teen girl who loves fairy stories and finds beauty in darkness, this book is for you.
That said, while WINTERSONG is now designated as YA, it does contain mature content and would probably be more appropriate for older teens and adults. :)

It's definitely on the sexy side for YA, and can be very creepy too -- in fact, almost all the sexual elements are creepy. But possibly no more than Twilight? I would have had no trouble reading it as a YA, I think, and enjoyed it very much as an adult.

It is YA, so it would be aimed toward the high schoolers.

It IS technically designated as YA, but I'd say some of the scenes are geared towards an older age group. There is one scene in particular, where the heroine's sister is being passed around by a group of dancing goblins, and they are putting their hands and mouths on every part of her body.... neck, breasts, thighs, etc.
I don't dispute the YA rating, really, but I know my 12 year old reads a lot of YA books, and I'm not sure this one would be one I'd feel comfortable with him reading. (Not that he would; this isn't exactly his type of book. Furthermore, even if I wasn't comfortable with it, I'd still let him; I don't believe in censorship of books. Anyway, I'm off the point.) I'd say the perfect age group would be 17-19. Not adult enough to lose the whimsy that makes fantasies like this enjoyable, but not young enough to get wide-eyed by roaming goblin tongues.
