(view spoiler)[Hi Michael, first of all, I really enjoyed the Riyria Revelation series, good job!
I have a question but I'm trying to phrase so that I'm not revealing a spoiler to anyone reading this. Given the origin of Royce and some specific events that happened in Ratibor, how come he was an homeless orphan? Someone must have taken care of him for a while, right? So what happened exactly to him in those first years? Thanks! (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[Hey Eric, thanks for making the post spoiler free. The midwife became spooked when Arcadius came knocking and poking around. She was afraid that others would find out she took the child, and felt it would put her in danger. So she got rid of Royce. There isn't a POV character to explain what happened between the time she dumped him and Royce made it to an orphanage, but if you think on it I'm sure you can figure out what might have happened ;-). I may tell that full story someday. We'll see. (hide spoiler)]

In regards to Kickstarter and the Disappearance of Winter's Daughter. I absolutely love having your previous books in hardcover and your Death of Dulgath kickstarter was handled so well. You've been updating the writing progress side of things over on the book page [and thanks for that!] but am wondering about how a Kickstarter and hence a hardcover, is looking? Thank you.
