Hi Mr. Grant, I'm a huge fan of your Gone series. But I've always wondered: how did you map out the time thing at the beginning of each chapter throughout the series?

Michael Grant I did it backward. I wrote the book, and sort of vaguely kept things on-track time-wise, but then, whenever I found my end-point, I'd have to walk back through the manuscript and literally count on m fingers - because no one is dumber than me at math. I'd sometimes have to alter times of day in order to make something fit - walk back through and change a night description to a day description, that kind of thing. All in all, it was a pain in the ass. But I think it worked.
