Dylan Taylor
Dylan Taylor asked Marie Brennan:

What inspired the writing method in "The Memoirs of Lady Trent"? I absolutely love the books. They combine my love of natural history with my love of dragons in one of the best combinations I have yet read.

Marie Brennan If you mean the memoir style . . . it just sort of happened. :-) I started typing, and it came out in first person, and then it started to have the kind of commentary that made it sound like it was being written after the fact for some kind of audience, and then I thought, "hey, a memoir would be very appropriate to the period." It turned out to be one of the best decisions I've made all series. Not only is it massively fun to write, but the retrospective frame lets me play alllllllll kinds of different games with the narration.

(If you didn't mean the memoir style, then send in another question and I'll try to answer more accurately!)
