How did you get the idea for Joe? How did you create him and what made you create him?

Caroline Kepnes Hi Torie, It's always part magic where one day there is hmmm I'm trying to write and not sure what's going on with this screen and then there is that moment where I hear the voice in my head. With Joe, I had gone through a ferociously terrible year, losing my dad, my mom was very sick too, I got very sick, had emergency surgery. And I was trying to stay optimistic and kind of flight my way back to life. I think Joe comes from that spirit you get when you know you it would be so easy to just give up but something inside of you is like no. Keep going. And it's nasty and sharp, but it's saves your life. The way a book can do that for you, I really wanted to make something that would keep me enthralled and, hopefully, do the same for other people (if and when I finished it, which I did, as you know!) Does that make sense?
