East Is East was the first (of many) of your books for me, and it was a get-off-the-bus-cancel-all-plans-go-home-and-read-this-now experience. I recommended the book to a self-proclaimed writer and he said that upon finishing it, he threw the book across the room in frustration. How should I have responded?

I've never submitted a question to an author because I'm always afraid I won't be able to come up with something he or she hasn't been asked a thousand times before, but I just realized that gives rise to an answer I'd be interested in: how often do you get a question from a reader that is original or thought provoking? Can you repeat one for us, and how you answered it?
