How many rounds of rewrites do you typically do? And do you create story outlines?

I revise as I go along, so I can't count the rounds. Once the ms. is done, I do a final read-through. As for outlines, no. My work is intuitive and improvisatory and the joy of doing it lies in the discovery not only of its themes and meaning, but of the characters and plot too.

I am bringing in an exhibition about Flannery O'Connor that was created by several photography/mixed media artist to the Dishman Art Museum (@ Lamar University) this January and have read that O'Connor's work was instrumental in making you reconsider a career as a musician. Can you elaborate?
