I've read all of your books but love, love, love Drop City, re-reading it every few years. Don't mean to gush but wanted to tell you how entertaining the story line is to this boomer who never experienced commune living but always wondered if I might be missing something. My question is: did you live in a commune before writing this book?

I am delighted to hear of your deep engagement with the book, Jacqueline. While I never lived in a commune, I did live in a big house with a bunch of people, dirty dishes, rancid food, plenty of drugs and pets and parties, just like everybody else in America.
