There are two books, actually. The Harder They Come is just out this week in paperback and The Terranauts will be out in hardcover in October. For THTC, I was depressed about the weekly (daily?) news of the random shootings in this country and abroad, and so I took an actual story as reported in the news in 2011, of one schizophrenic shooter and dramatized it, trying to get inside his head. As for The Terranauts, this is my novel about the Biosphere experiment in the Arizona desert of the early 1990s, in which four men and four women were voluntarily sealed inside an ecosphere of 3.15 acres (along with 3800 species of plants and animals) for two years, to see if it was feasible to have an off-earth colony.

I am bringing in an exhibition about Flannery O'Connor that was created by several photography/mixed media artist to the Dishman Art Museum (@ Lamar University) this January and have read that O'Connor's work was instrumental in making you reconsider a career as a musician. Can you elaborate?

I just want to register an appreciation. have read them all with such pleasure: especially drop city. I visited the nm one in 1970, it was interesting but not fun, the last days, crackerjack toys allover the hard land, but our drop ity was memorable. I got through a winter here musing over the characters.??
