Andy Crossfield
Andy Crossfield asked Victoria Zigler:

What a wonderful story your life is Tori! You live in the perfect setting for a children's author! I have a question, just what is a Degu?

Victoria Zigler Thank you, Andy.

In answer to your question: a degu is a rodent that's closely related to chinchillas and guinea pigs (both in scientific classification, and in care needs). Appearance-wise, however, it more closely resembles a rat with a bottle-brush tail, and is sometimes referred to as the "brush-tailed rat" for that reason. They are very social creatures who don't do well alone, have strict diets (due to being at high risk of diabetes) and need regular sand baths.
