But then I thought about how my position wavered while watching the show (mainly because of Joseph Fiennes's role as the Commander). IF--A BIG IF--we end up in such a screwed up world like in the book, for some reason a part of me agrees with the fundamental idea of Gilead, how the still fertile women could contribute to the population, maybe just a little. Yet when I come to think about it, it only benefits the rich and powerful people. Damn it! What took me so long? Why can't they do IVF? Is it really Bible-approved for women to go around and give children to different men? Honestly, Bilhah only gave Jacob children. OMG THIS JUST CAME TO ME! Can this be the final rebuttal to the idea of Gilead? (less)
