I can read your question two ways, and I will answer both.
The first way is to read your question as stating that this functionality of Goodreads only works for asking questions of the author. That is true - this particular functionality is set up for readers to pose questions to an author, and is not equivalent to Facebook messaging, for example. Another feature on Goodreads is recommending books to specific friends, which I have done on occasion.
The second way is to read your question as stating this (two pairs of shorts) is the only work for which I am accepting questions (referring to my message for readers on my author page). Right now, I've only got one work out there, and since I am currently running a giveaway for it, I customized my message to put more focus on the book.
