How do you get inspired to write?

Will Wyckoff For as long as I can recall, I have enjoyed the telling of a good tale. To this day, I share stories that my grandfather shared with me. Now THAT MAN was a storyteller! (Perhaps that is why I gave my fictional U.S. President in BIRDS ON A WIRE my grandfather's name!) Throughout my school years, it was the teacher or the subjects that lent themselves to stories that I enjoyed most. Becoming a communications teacher was a natural fit for me. Then I started writing stories and using excerpts in my classroom to teach writing skills. It was years before a student said to me, "Mr. Wyckoff, did you write this? It sounds like you." Then I was hooked.
