Hi, is 'Theft of Swords' a combination of both 'The Crown Conspiracy' and 'Avempartha'?
Michael J. Sullivan
Hey Krista, it is indeed! I know it can be confusing at times. Let's see if this helps.
Originally the Riyria Revelations was written as six individual books, the first five of which were self-published as standalone novels:
* The Crown Conspiracy
* Avempartha
* Nyphron Rising
* The Emerald Storm
* Wintertide
* Percepliquis
Just before the release of Percepliquis, Orbit (the fantasy imprint of big-five publisher Hachette Book Group) bought the rights to the series. And when they re-released it, they put the series out as three, 2-book omnibus editions:
* Theft of Swords
* Rise of Empire
* Heir of Novron
The original books are now out of print - so it's pretty hard to find copies of the original Crown Conspiracy and Avempartha as standalone because Theft of Swords replaces those two books. It's great for readers. They can get two books for the price of one in the new Orbit releases.
Thanks again for asking.

You have put yourself in a unique situation of writing the stories from which your previous books have built myth and religion. I am loving every minute as you untangle (and tangle) myth from reality. Care to offer insight on how you go about deciding what is myth and which is reality? This is quite a ride! I'm loving every minute of it.

Hi Michael! Saw your answer to Britt's question about a possible tv adaptation of Riyria and that you have some names in mind for characters. If you could cast anyone for the show, who would you chose? My husband and I have a whole fancast for the series and it would be so cool if some of our ideas matched yours!

I share the joy that is your work every chance I get. Have you ever thought about turning your world into a role playing game campaign setting for games like Dungeons & Dragons and Pathfinder? I know someone who would likely be very interested in taking on the project if you are interested in exploring the idea. And I for one would love to have my own adventures in your world.
