Sarah asked Colleen Hoover:

Do you put a different hat on, so to speak, when you write from the guys POV? And do you find it harder or easier to tell a story using both guy and girl or just one or the other?

Colleen Hoover It really depends on the book. I just finished a book that I wrote all from the female perspective because it worked better for the story that way. Kind of like how Hopeless worked better from Sky's point of view so we wouldn't know what was going through Holder's head.
And I don't find it any more difficult to write from a male or female perspective. I sort of put different hats on no matter which character I'm writing from, because I'm writing as someone entirely separate from myself, whether it's a boy or a girl. So I just try to get into the mindset of that character and that story, but it's always a challenge creating a whole new personality.
