I don't think the father was bi-polar; I think he was an alcoholic. I think the mother was bi-polar. My best piece of evidence for Rex (the father) is the fact his mother was also an alcoholic and several people called him the "town drunk". My best evidence for Rosemary being bi-polar is her tremendous swings evidenced in behavior from lying in bed for hours (depression) to having "energy" for art (mania). Rex (the father) never behaved in anyway other than his stories (dreams) which are arguably delusions because in many ways he believed them, but that's my evidence for a severe alcoholic with the mental disease that accompanies it. He even had hallucinations when he was detoxing which indicates the degree to which he was an alcoholic.
