I am not a survivor of child sex abuse, but I will say that a couple of friends are, and this pretty exactly mirrored what they've told me: that initially, it wasn't distressing, but as they came to understand sexuality and to understand that their first sexual experiences had been essentially stolen from them, it became horrifying. This happened, by the way, without anyone identifying it as abuse to them. Simply coming into puberty and realizing what sex was made them immediately reframe what had happened as, basically, a theft.

I have read countless books on this topic and went to hundreds of hours of therapy.
