How much research did you do for Poison Study? How accurate do you think the role of food-taster is compared to historical food tasters?

Hi Martyn! I did quite a bit of research for Poison Study. I researched how to pick a lock, I took fencing classes, and even did a tree climbing/zip lining course to see how it would feel to climb through the tree canopy. As for the food tasting, I learned all that from my husband, who worked with chocolate (yeah, I know, sweet job ;). The way Valek teaches Yelena how to taste foods is very accurate compared to what food professionals do in today's world - I don't know how historical food tasters learned how to do their job.

Dear Maria, Thank you for writing such amazing fiction that I have thoroughly enjoyed reading for the past 12 years and continue to do so! I just wondered (if you have any time to spare at all) if you wouldn't mind having a look at my book ‘Pink Club’ its a small series of 4 books and the second book will be out this summer. Hello, I'm very new to your world of books, and actually found them through playing Chapters, I commented on it saying that if it were a novel, I would read it and I found Poison Study because of it. It's easily my favorite book. Valek and Yelena are among my favorite characters of all time. Who is/was your favorite character to write? Also, Would you ever consider writing about young assassin Valek? Thank you!
